Do You Clench Or Grind Your Teeth?

Bruxism, or teeth grinding, affects millions of Americans. People may clench or grind their teeth at night and during stressful situations. However, bruxism is a treatable condition. At Marr Family Dentistry, we make it our mission to provide comfortable dental treatment to our patients. We offer multiple treatments for bruxism that can stop teeth grinding and relieve tension.

But first, what are the signs of bruxism?

Symptoms of Bruxism

There are multiple common signs of bruxism to look out for, including:

  • Stress
  • Headaches
  • Lockjaw
  • Loose Teeth
  • Tooth Pain
  • Tooth Sensitivity
  • Jaw Soreness
  • Muscle Soreness
  • Fractured Teeth

If left untreated, chronic bruxism can cause tooth loss and gum recession, so it is important to get professional treatment to stop teeth grinding at the source.

Treatment Options for Teeth Grinding

At Marr Family Dentistry, we have multiple bruxism treatments that relieve symptoms and can help stop teeth clenching and grinding. Some of these treatment options include:

  • Oral Sleep Appliance: This solution is custom fit for your comfort. Oral sleep appliances are made of hard-soft plastic which is molded to fit over the teeth. The device repositions the jaw to prevent grinding while also protecting teeth from further wear and tear.
  • NTI-tss device: Similar to the oral sleep appliance, the NTI-tss device covers the front teeth. This prevents molars from grinding by limiting jaw muscle movements.
  • Botox®: For more severe bruxism cases, Botox can be a great option. Botox is strategically injected into facial muscles to relieve tension and minimize pain.
